Hi iTeam WIS Family,
As many of you may know, one of our very own is dealing with a family crisis and needs our support. Kristy Caudles’ son was recently diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. At 21 years of age, this is the most devastating event of his life.
In early November 2021, he saw a social media post of a friend that was diagnosed and checked. He noticed a mass but waited a week and it was still there. He experienced no pain or warning signs. Kristy took him to his doctor and he was immediately sent to the emergency room. His swelling was from a tumor that was removed via surgery on November 19th. After the surgery, his urologist and oncologist confirmed his cancer metastasized to his lymph nodes in the abdomen area and lungs.
While Testicular cancer is rare, it does affect 1 in 250 males between the ages of 15 and 30, it is curable cancer with the right treatment, support, and specialized resources.
With that being said, cancer does not wait and neither should we. By contributing, you are helping fund the following expenses along with providing emotional support. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated, even a simple share to family and friends or a donation that’s the price of a cup of coffee. It has been agonizing seeing such a smart person in so much pain and being dealt this card at such a young age. It’s time to rally and send all of our love, good vibes, and positive support for him to get through this!!!
While he does have insurance, we all know that doesn't begin to cover to cost of the battle to beat cancer. As one can imagine, this will still be a very large life-changing expense and a difficult experience for him.
- Surgery: Orchiectomy
- Imaging tests taken pre, during, and post-treatment such as X-Rays, MRIs, CT scans, audiology test, labs, and all of the many doctor appointments
- 4 rounds of high dose chemotherapy and additional medication to support side effects from treatment
- Fertility treatment and fees for sperm bank so when he beats this cancer, he will have the option later in life to raise a family of his own (which is not covered by insurance and has an initial cost of $3000 with additional annual storage fees)
- Loss of income, as much as he wants to work based off his stage and type of treatment, he will need to take 4-6 months away to undergo treatments and focus solely on getting better
- Personal & family necessities (food, lodging, travel/transportation for any specialist and family caregiving)
- Counseling services and recovery aid
One thing life has always taught me is to have faith and trust the process. Thank you for everyone's prayers and best wishes for Kristy and her son.
