Urgent Appeal: Help Rebuild Lives After Hurricane Melissa

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Family,

We are Carmen Campbell and Yanique Garvey, proud and deeply concerned citizens of Jamaica now living in the United States.

Our hearts ache as we watch the devastation that Hurricane Melissa has left behind. Homes have been destroyed, communities torn apart, and thousands of families are struggling to survive without even the most basic necessities. It is heartbreaking to see the faces of mothers, fathers, and children who have lost everything, not because of anything they did, but because nature was unkind.

Right now, many of our fellow Jamaicans are in desperate need of food, clean water, cooking supplies, and light. Simple things that you and I use every day, things that most of us don’t even think twice about, have suddenly become precious lifelines.

We know that times are difficult everywhere, and many of us are facing our own financial challenges. But we believe in the power of compassion, that when we come together, even the smallest act of kindness can restore hope and dignity to someone who has lost so much.

We’ve estimated that US $100 (approximately J$15,400) can help one family get back on their feet by providing:

A single-burner camp stove

A 20 lb gas cylinder

Refilling of the cylinder

Basic groceries (canned food, rice, flashlights, and batteries)

If you can help one family, it will make a real difference. If you can help two or more, your generosity will touch even more lives.

We have already arranged shipping to Jamaica and must have all items ready by Friday, 14 November, to ensure they reach the island by the end of the month.
