I am reaching out for help

First I can’t believe I have to do this, but I’ve have had many of you encourage to ask for help. This site only gives me one category to choose and it’s much more than bills; it’s everything, rent, medical bills, very basic utilities, food, transportation and so on.

Eight months ago I got a nasty infection in my foot that spread to the bone. As a result I had to have the my pinky toe and fifth metatarsal amputated to the cuboid which is like the knuckle in your hand but it’s deep in the foot.

During the start of the healing process I had a diabetic ulcer open up. The ulcer at first was huge and its been slowly closing with costly Regranex therapy. It’s been slow to close because of deep mining from the severity of the damage from the infection and the tissue trauma associated with the amputation. There is and been a lot my body needs to do to heal itself. There is no weight bearing on my right foot using an offloading shoe or a Velcro cast so the wound does not move and heals. I use a knee scooter and or walker to keep weight off it. I know, the walker might seem a bit overkill but I trust myself using crutches like I trust myself on roller skates. So crutches are a big fat no.

Even with my diabetes in control it takes months for something like this to close and heal. I am so close to recovery and all getting back to work. This is probably my biggest wish of the decade, heal and back to work. My job is in the top three loves of my existence. I still have no idea what I stepped on that cut the bottom of my foot because of numbing peripheral neuropathy.

The absolutely AMAZING company I’m work for had a technical glitch in their HR/Benefits computer network that communicates with The Hartford long term disability insurance. I had short term disability through The Hartford and that only spans six months. When it came time to get transitioned from short term to long term disability it never happened because of a network glitch and The Hartford showed I had no coverage. My last payment from disability insurance was May 17th, 2023. Thank God I have saved a little money and been slowly chipping away at that since November and now have really blown though that egg with nothing coming in for almost 2 months now.

I so worried about and now facing head on not being able to afford my medications that keep me healthy, a roof over my head, food in my mouth and back to work. I tried to sell some stuff and got assaulted robbed during the transaction. I’ve had some help along the way but now it’s tuning scary. I’ve never been late on rent and facing eviction and homelessness. I got 9 days of meds left and scared what lies ahead.

I have no idea when my disability insurance is going to correct itself. But praying there is a positive outcome and a closing to this challenging life’s chapter.

I am and will be forever grateful and thankful if you choose to help. I know these are horrible times we are in and absolutely hate I have to do this.
