Hi, my name is Kadijah, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend
Bethany — a devoted mother, caregiver, and one of the strongest women I know.
On September 25, 2025, Bethany received the devastating news that her infant son,
Brooks, was diagnosed with multiple critical and rare congenital heart defects, as well
as a complex condition known as Heterotaxy Syndrome — a disorder where the
internal organs are abnormally arranged across the left-right axis of the body.
Brooks' diagnosis includes:
- Single Ventricle with Unbalanced Atrioventricular Canal
- DORV (Double Outlet Right Ventricle)
- TAPVR (Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return)
- Heterotaxy Syndrome
These conditions are not just complex — they are life-threatening. Brooks requires
immediate and ongoing surgery and treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, one of the top pediatric cardiac centers in the U.S. Bethany must temporarily relocate to Houston for at least 6 months so Brooks can undergo a series of lifesaving procedures.
This means:
- Leaving behind her home, job, and support system in Louisiana
- Managing temporary housing, food, and transportation and her additional children
- Facing the emotional toll of caring for her medically fragile child in an unfamiliar city.
We’re raising $5000 to help cover:
- Temporary housing and living expenses in Houston
- Transportation and family travel support
- Daily meals and essentials
- Out-of-pocket medical costs
- Emergency breathing room for unexpected expenses
Bethany didn’t ask for this journey — and she didn’t ask for help lightly. Today,
we’re asking you to be part of a village that surrounds her and Brooks with hope,
strength, and stability.
If you can give, please do. If not, please share this with someone who might. Every
donation, every share, every message of encouragement counts.
Let’s show Bethany she’s not alone. Let’s show Brooks that he is deeply loved.
