Help Bethany Get the Heart She Desperately Needs

Bethany is a beautiful 17-year-old daughter — a bright, joyful girl with a huge love for horses and life itself.

Beth was born with a serious heart condition and had her first open-heart surgery at just 10 days old. Since then, she has faced more challenges than most people do in a lifetime — enduring six open-heart surgeries, living with a pacemaker, and coping with having only one kidney.

Now, Beth urgently needs a heart transplant.

She is currently staying at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, an hour from home, while she awaits the call that could save her life. Sadly, due to the many surgeries she has already had, Beth has developed antibodies that mean her body would reject 97% of donor hearts — leaving her with only a 3% match window.

Doctors are applying to the national panel to have Beth moved to the urgent transplant list, but as she is now classed as an adult, the criteria are even stricter. Every day we wait feels like an eternity.

Despite everything, Beth remains positive, brave, and determined. She truly is a fighter.

We have created this GoFundMe to help support Beth and family through this incredibly difficult time.

I (her mum) have had to stop working to be by her side every day in hospital. Meanwhile, we are trying to keep life as normal as possible for her 9-year-old brother, Jack. The emotional and financial strain is overwhelming — travel, accommodation, food, and the costs of keeping Beth occupied and supported in hospital all add up.

Beth could be waiting in hospital for months — possibly a year — so we want to give her as much comfort, stimulation, and hope as we can. Funds will help with:
Guitar lessons and other hobbies to keep her spirits up
Travel and living costs for family visits
Therapy sessions to support her mental health
Preparations for assisted living and recovery after her transplant

To help raise awareness and funds, we’re also organising a sponsored walk on Saturday, 21st March, walking 21 miles along The Cleveland Way from Saltburn to Whitby. We’d love for friends, family, and supporters to join us or sponsor the walk to show their love for Beth.

We are also using this campaign to raise awareness of organ and blood donation — because without donors, children like Beth simply don’t get the chance they deserve.

Please, if you can, donate, share, and help spread the word. Every penny and every share brings us one step closer to giving Beth the life she deserves.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
