Help get Megan home
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kate and I’m fundraising for my sister Megan. Megan is 33 years old. She is a loving wife, an amazing mom to her five year old daughter, Iris, and the best sister a girl could ask for. Anyone who knows her will tell you how hilarious and quick-witted she is. Quite frankly she is the funniest and smartest person I know.
In August 2023, Megan began feeling a strange sensation in her foot. Over the next few months she began to lose her balance, the ability to move her toes, and fingers, and eventually movement in her legs. After a stay at Mass General Hospital and many tests, she was sent home with a walker and no diagnosis. Shortly after Christmas she began using a wheelchair. By the end of February, Megan could no longer use her legs or her hands and was officially house-bound. We brought her back to Mass General (with the help of an ambulance) where they did more testing. After weeks of testing and a few scary possibilities, the Neurology team came up with an incredibly rare diagnosis. Megan has Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) which is a rare autoimmune disorder. She has a form of CIDP called Nodopathy which is even more rare and difficult to diagnose.
Megan is currently at Spaulding rehab where she is receiving necessary round-the-clock care. She can’t walk, stand, or even feed herself.
Since Megan is now confined to a wheelchair, we need to make lots of changes to her house before we can get her home. We need to have an elevator lift installed to get her in the house, we need to widen doorways to allow her access to her bedroom and bathroom, we need to install ramps, and purchase various necessary medical equipment. This fundraiser will be used to make sure Megan can get home so our family can help her get used to her new normal.
Our family is grateful for any donations given. If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser so we can achieve our goal.
Here is some information on the disease she is dealing with:
