58 year old “whistleblower” sleeping in his car.
Donation protected
As of July 25th, I have been sleeping in my car. I was working for a non profit, as an advocate, to guide families with special needs children, empower themselves, apply for services and express their concerns in school meetings. I was let go after making a complaint to the state for possible misappropriation of funds. I filed a “whistleblower” lawsuit and have found it difficult to find similar jobs in the area. I’ve used up my savings and I am advocating for myself trying to navigate the system. I’m 58 and I don’t know how much longer I can sleep in my car, especially during the summer. I understand why people chose to “check out”, but the only reason I don’t think about that option is my son. The irony is I devoted my life to helping people in need and now that I am in need. Few have offered to help. So, I created this fund as my last option.
