Super Hero Aiden vs. Rare Tumor

Donation protected

Our little superhero, four-year-old Aiden, has been diagnosed with a rare medical condition which puts his health at risk.

On the morning of January 14, 2020 Aiden woke up not his usual self. He was incoherent and could not stay awake. Aiden was rushed to Danbury Hospital in Connecticut and after a CAT scan was performed, he was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus. There is no pediatric neurology at Danbury Hospital, so he was then transferred to Mount Siani  Hospital in New York City. Upon arrival it was determined by the Pediatric Neurology team that Aiden would need emergency surgery to relieve the fluid building up in his brain. The team of surgeons performed a Third Ventriculostomy on Aiden. After a successful surgery, an MRI was done to figure out why he had the fluid buildup and it was determined that he had tumors. This began Aiden’s journey of having four brain surgeries with the last one on February 5, 2020 which resulted in a shunt being placed in him and the diagnosis of a Disseminated Leptomeningeal Glioneuronal tumor. Aiden has numerous tumors in the lower part of the brain stem and one in his spine. His treatment will begin soon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital.

While insurance will cover some of the cost, it will not cover all of the associated expenses. Aiden’s mom has recently returned back to work from maternity leave in November of 2019 which leaves her with very little paid time to take off for Aiden’s current and future medical procedures and follow-up appointments which creates a new predicament for the family. When Aiden’s treatments begin his mom will use her remaining paid days and the rest of her leave will be unpaid. Aiden’s projected course of treatment will last any where between 12 to 15 months. Aiden’s mom and dad will be taking turns to balance their jobs throughout the course of Aiden’s treatment but there will still remain a big financial burden for their family. Aiden’s parents never thought they were going to be celebrating a new child’s life and then a couple months later they would be in and out of the hospital helping their first born son fight a rare tumor. We as friends and family could not fathom something like this happening to Aiden. He is so full of life and energy that you just can't help to gravitate towards. He is such a great kid, friend, big brother and son and we want him to be able to enjoy his life and live it to the fullest.

We are asking for donations to help this family with such an unexpected life changing event. Our greatest wish is for Aiden to live a long, happy, and healthy life. Little Aiden needs our help, so we are calling out to all of Aiden’s Guardian Angels out there! We thank you for your support in advance, any amount helps.

Please reshare on social media. We will be giving updates with new developments on Aiden’s journey to share with you all.

With Gratitude, Team Aiden
