I'm setting this GoFundMe for my cousin, Jennifer Marshall. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She is full of love for everyone and is always looking out for everyone else. But now she needs your help. She is doing a double mastectomy and reconstruction, which is an expensive procedure with quite the recovery time.
And in her spirit of always helping others, any funds raised beyond the goal will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
We have a fundraiser at Willy McCoys in Champlin from 3-8 PM on May 1st. We hope to see everyone there! There will be a silent auction and other fun, along with some amazing people and items.
This is her story.
"On 2/14, I went in for my yearly mammogram, which spotted an abnormality in my left breast. I received a call from my clinic to schedule a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound, which I had done on 2/28. At that time, it was recommended that I have a biopsy done on this area. I received the biopsy results in my chart late in the afternoon of 3/10…my pathology report came back positive for cancer. Nothing can quite prepare you to see/hear those words. It was fortunately caught early. I had zero symptoms and I’m healthy. Ryan, Lacey, and I met with the surgeon on 3/17 to go over everything and to review my options. Option 1 is conservative, a lumpectomy with little downtime but would require 4-6 weeks of radiation 5 days/week. The other option, and the route I’m choosing to go, is a double mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction. My next step is to meet with the plastic surgeon and then surgery. I would love if everyone would please keep me, my family, and my surgical team in your prayers.
Also, a reminder to all my beautiful family and friends to please schedule your mammograms when recommended! "
