Life can unexpectedly change at any point. Unfortunately this is the case for Abby, Ben, and their infant Jordy. Nearly 12 weeks after giving birth to their first son Jordy, Abby was suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on Wednesday, September 3rd.
She quickly received the news of needing to undergo intensive inpatient chemotherapy, planned to start Thursday, September 11th and carrying on for the duration of 3-4 weeks. For now, this is the hardest part—missing precious moments with her baby while trying to fight for her health and their future together.
We are unsure what her treatment plan and lifestyle will look like after the 3-4 weeks are complete, but what we do know is their family needs our support through it all!
They never could have prepared for something like this. While Abby focuses on getting through treatment, Ben and the amazing Brown and Luitjens families will caring for their little one and trying to manage everything at home. The medical bills, time away from work for both Abby and Ben, and unexpected costs are already starting to add up, and it’s overwhelming.
Anyone who knows Abby knows that she’s always ready to help a friend when they need her. Now it’s our turn to do the same for her! We are asking for help from ‘Abby’s Army’. If you feel moved to support them, whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply keeping the family in your prayers- they will be deeply grateful. Every bit of love and kindness helps lighten the load and reminds them that they’re not facing this battle alone.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for walking with Abby, Ben, and Jordy during this unimaginable time.
