Update: Riley has been diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a type of cancer affecting the heart. Today, Cornell will conduct a CT scan to determine if the cancer has metastasized. The proposed treatment involves targeting the tumor with radiation to inhibit its growth and prevent any bleeding. The medical team believes that if this approach is successful, Riley will have significantly more time to spend with Kelsey.

Riley is more than just a dog. She is Kelsey Gorney’s best friend, emotional support, and constant companion. This past week, Riley suddenly became very ill and was rushed to the emergency vet, where they discovered she has fluid around her lungs. To save her life, she now requires urgent, specialized surgery at Cornell Veterinary Hospital.

Kelsey would never ask for help herself. She is the kind of person who is always the first to step up for others, especially animals in need. She is deeply involved with Friends Forever Dog Rescue, where she consistently fosters dogs, volunteers her time, and opens her home and heart to animals who need it most.

We are starting this fundraiser with a goal of $10,000 to help cover Riley’s emergency care and surgery. Anything raised beyond that will be donated in Riley’s honor to Friends Forever Dog Rescue, so other dogs in need can receive the care and second chances they deserve.
