The aim of this go fund me is to raise $100,000 to commission a Author to research and write the 33 year history of 5/7 RAR .

A key deliverable for the 5/7 RAR Association is an Official History of the 33 year career of 5/7 RAR. With three battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment now Mechanized, the 33 year history of the first Mechanized battalion of the Regiment should be recorded and the lessons learned for the future as Army transitions to Armoured Infantry in the future with Infantry Combat Vehicles.

There are 2267 ex 5/7 RAR members in the two Facebook groups. A donation of $20 each will achieve half of the funding required to engage a professional author to research, verify and write the Official History of the Battalion. The Committee will approach the Department of Veterans Affairs, Army History Unit, Businesses and Prime Contractors such as Rheinmetall and General Dynamics for funding contributions.

The administration of the donations will be in accordance with the 5/7 RAR Association Constitution and the Strategic Plan.
