Please help us save Smitty’s!

A beloved staple in Chester Virginia, Smitty’s Cat Rescue Shelter needs to raise approximately 15K to help relocate since being informed on January 13, 2023 that the property will be sold to developers. After 15 years in operation, Smitty’s must vacate by February 28, 2023.

Smitty’s is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose primary mission is to provide a safe environment for homeless, stray, and abandoned cats and kittens until we help them find forever homes. Currently, Smitty’s has saved well over 1000 cats and kittens.

Smitty’s was founded in 2008 by Smitty, a kind soul, who loved cats and who passed away unexpectedly in 2016.

Lynne Layton came to the rescue, and with a very small dedicated group of cat lovers, Lynne was able to not only carry on Smitty’s wishes, but to help the organization thrive.
