Support Steven's Recovery After Hurricane Helene

Hi, my name is Erika and I am setting up this gofundme for a family member of mine, Steven McAnally. He is one of the many people who have been devastated from Hurricane Helene, losing his home, all vehicles, RV, a lifetime of sentimental belongings as the flood waters were 4.5 feet inside the house.

Not only did he lose everything, him and his elderly mom that he is a caretaker for, his dog Daisy and cat Stewart went through the most terrifying experience riding out the storm. He decided to stay because moving his mom to a different location could have been a worse situation. Nobody could predict just how bad this storm was going to be.

As the flood waters started to seep into the house, he decided to move the most important things to the second floor, which was his mom, dog and cat. By the time he got his mom out of the bed and dressed, they were wading through water up to their ankles. He only had time to go back downstairs to grab what he could and by then the water wasn’t slowing down. I cannot imagine what that felt like as the flood waters rushed in and around his house. At this point all he could do was look out the windows and watch his and the town of Old Fort’s belongings beat against the house and float by and pray that the house doesn’t collapse.

Now that they have survived, the real recovery begins.

The community has been amazing coming together getting him supplies while he continues to stay in the second story of his inhabitable house. At this point, he really could use some financial support as he takes this long journey in rebuilding his life.
