Supporting Sarah

Hi, my name is Leah, and I'm fundraising for my wonderful mother, Sarah. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read her story.

If you know Sarah, you most likely have felt her warmth and love from miles away. She is the mother of 5 girls and truly one of the strongest humans I have ever met.

On June 12th, she and I decided to ride electric scooters around Downtown Denver for a mother/daughter date. Things took a turn for the worst as she rode off a set of unpainted sidewalk steps and landed hard on the left side of her body, resulting in a shattered elbow and knee.

After two surgeries, the doctors expect a full recovery; however, she cannot work for the next three months. She is on complete bed rest and has lost most of her independence due to the severity of the fractures.

My mother, like most people, doesn't usually ask for help, even when she needs it. However, we ask for some compassion and support during this time because of the circumstances. The financial strain of hospital bills and day-to-day expenses without reliable income is becoming too much for one person to take on.

Below is a more detailed description of her injuries if you are interested in reading; otherwise, thank you for your time and concern.

Please feel free to share my mother's story. Any help that we can receive is greatly appreciated.

CT SCAN NOTES:

PROCEDURE: CT KNEE WO CONTRAST LEFT

CLINICAL INDICATION: eval fx- include whole fx

COMPARISON: DX KNEE_LT 6/12/2022

TECHNIQUE: Axial CT images were obtained of the left knee with coronal and sagittal reconstructions performed.

FINDINGS:

Bones:

Severely comminuted fracture of the posterior lateral tibial plateau with approximately (0.8 cm) (series 200, image 51) of depression and (1.1 cm) (series 200, image 51) of lateral displacement of the lateral tibial plateau. Fracture fragments are displaced posteriorly. Fractures extend posteriorly to involve the tibial metadiaphysis (series 201, image 58). A vertically oriented nondisplaced
fracture is seen extending out of field of view inferiorly along the posterior tibial diaphysis (series 2, image 442).

Fractures also extend medially through the tibial eminence and involve the lateral portion of the medial tibial plateau, with minimal displacement (series 2, image 244). Comminuted impacted fractures extend into the tibial metadiaphysis, with (1.1 cm) (series 200, image 49) proximal displacement of the distal fragment. There is posterior angulation of the medial and lateral tibial plateaus.

Comminuted fractures of the proximal fibula with extension into the tibiofibular articulation.

Soft tissues:

Large lipohemarthrosis. Normal noncontrast appearance of neurovascular structures. No evidence of large soft tissue hematoma.

IMPRESSION:

Acute comminuted bicondylar plateau fracture with fracture through the proximal tibial metadiaphysis, consistent with a Schatzker 6 injury pattern. Severe comminution and depression of the lateral tibial plateau. Lateral tibial plateau fracture fragments also have posterior and lateral displacement. Acute comminuted and mildly displaced fracture of the fibular head.

Large knee joint lipohemarthrosis.
