COVID-19 Relief for Small Businesses NYC/LI

Local businesses are establishments that are often the character of a neighborhood and a community. The relationships created between customers and businesses go beyond just purchases — they become family. 

With the stock market dropping, social distancing, and the government mandating that businesses such as restaurants and bars close for dine-in service, small businesses have been forced to significantly change how they operate. These changes are devastating small businesses, as well as the livelihoods of their employees.

According to Forbes, navigating the effects of COVID-19 has already meant tapping into personal savings and 401(k)s. For these business owners, who have put their heart, life, and soul into building up their business, COVID-19 is on the brink of destroying what they have built in years, OVERNIGHT.

We, the SCC (Students Combat Corona), are a Long Island-based, student-led organization committed to helping our community during the COVID-19 outbreak. Currently, our focus is raising money to directly fund local businesses (who are being hit the hardest). 

As students, our ability to provide economic aid is limited. So we’re choosing to trust our community in the hopes that we can come together and lend a hand to those that need it the most. We understand that these times are scary and filled with uncertainty, but ANY donated amount will make a huge impact on a local business in a community just like your own. Even if you can’t donate now, you can still help by sharing this page on your social media platforms, or with your friends and family! 100% of proceeds will go directly to local businesses in Long Island and New York City who are in dire need of help.
