Jonathan Shick lost his long battle to opiate addiction on Monday, February 29, 2016. This tragedy caught his family by surprise, as he had just completed a season of being clean and sober and was ready to move on and develop a life as a father to his 2 boys, Benton & Ryder. The family is offering an opportunity to give toward his funeral expenses as well as (most importantly) the care of the boys he left behind, in lieu of flowers.
Jonathan was a bright, loving & energetic boy who loved the outdoors and became quite the golfer and fisherman! All who accompanied him on either excursions were amazed with his natural abilities and learned from him. He also became an avid outdoorsman who loved the beach, camping, boating, tying flies and creating cool stuff from nothing! As a young boy he loved his Lord and Savior, often singing one of his favorite songs - "Awesome God". His gifted golfing & fishing abilities and his God were his first loves and loves that served him well. He also had a gift with being a true friend and making life more enjoyable for those around him - an infectious smile, generous heart, sense of humor and personality. He was also a gifted writer, able to express and share life lessons and amazing insights. As happens with many, his life and loves were distracted by loves that became destructive to his gifts, abilities, and even his wonderful personality at times. Despite his family making sacrifices and fighting for & alongside him every step along the way that they could, the loves he left them for finally won the battle and stole him from them in this life. While devastated and heartbroken, their focus is now his boys, raising them to be like their father's heart, yet focused on things and activities that bring true life.
