Support Rick's Battle Against Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected
Anyone who is lucky enough to know him, loves him. It’s really as simple as that.

Over the last five years, the world has dished Rick more than his fair share of health problems, but most people don’t see past his big grin and cheerful demeanor to have any idea that he is living proof that miracles happen. That’s also how Rick likes things.
The last thing our dad has ever wanted was for others to worry about him or for others to go out of their way just for him. He’s the one constantly reminding those around him that every thunderstorm is followed by a rainbow.

Unfortunately, last week while in for a routine check-up with his gastroenterologist, some new concerns showed up on the imaging that was done. Not at all the update anyone was expecting to hear.

Rick has been diagnosed with Stage Four Metastatic Prostate cancer. He has continued to have multiple appointments over the past couple of weeks trying to figure out where to go from here and has made it clear to all those around him that he is prepared to fight this battle as well, with everything he’s got.

Rick will be visiting his family in Los Angeles California next week to attend his mother’s funeral, but once he returns home, treatments will begin and his appointments will continue.

Though he has made a life out of building others' forever homes, putting the finishing touches on all those projects that so many others aren’t able to do, and cooking for and serving those near and dear to him, these things that fill his days and heart may need to be put on the back of the grill for a bit. But just a bit.

Adding multiple weekly trips to doctor appointments that are three hours round trip, medications that aren’t covered by insurance, and continuing to cover monthly expenses that have always been covered by swinging a hammer while whistling to Bob Marley, is going to be tough.

With that being said, if you are able to help minimize the stress of this next chapter for Rick by sharing his story, saying a prayer, making a small contribution to go towards these unexpected expenses, or even sending a gift card that not only helps support a local business but also helps support a pretty cool guy in more ways than you could imagine, know that all the love and support you are sending is going to one of the most deserving people you could ever imagine helping.

We appreciate you and will post updates on “Grampy Rick with the Pony-tale,” as we are able to.

Every little thing’s gonna be alright
