Gomez Family Needs Your Help

UPDATE:
Yesterday morning 1/26/25, Dr's performed some test to check for brain function. The results showed no activity. The tests were repeated last night and at 11:25pm, Dr's declared our sweet Serena brain dead. Family and close friends are saying their final goodbyes this morning before disconnecting life support. All prayers, support and donations are greatly appreciated. I will update with memorial arrangements as they become available.
Hi,
My name is Rebecca and I am trying to help a dear friend of mine raise funds for her child. Selden and Mary Gomez have 4 children. The youngest of their children, Serena, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a very young age and has struggled with highs and lows with her glucose. Serena went into DKA during the snowstorm and EMS was not able to get to her as quickly as they normally would. Selden was forced to do the hardest thing a parent could do, CPR on their child. Serena was eventually transported to Nola Children's Hospital and is now on life support. Tests were done this morning and the family was told that sweet Serena is brain dead. The tests will be repeated this evening to confirm, but it is not looking good. Mary is a stay-at-home mom and Selden has understandably not been able to go back to work right now. Mary and Selden have always been the giving type. Serena is not their child biologically but through love. They have always been the type to help anyone in need, but especially children. They need help right now as they navigate the harsh path of losing a child. Please say some prayers and donate if possible. Any amount helps and if you can't, please share. Serena has not always had the good life she had with Mary and Selden, but she never let it stop her from being the sweetest, most loving child I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. This is such a heartbreaking time for all. Funds will be to assist with funeral expenses and to help family during their time of grief. These baby deserves to be laid to rest like the princess she will forever be.
