Hi,
My name is Hatim Saeed and I am a high school sophomore in Manila, Philippines.
I started this fundraiser to help provide for the people of Luzon (the Island which encompasses the city of Manila). The Island of Luzon is under strict quarantine and the economy has completely halted. While there were many people already living on day-to-day wages prior to the COVID-19 crisis, the current situation has pushed people to the edge of starvation and without other basic necessities. Even if the markets were open, people don’t have a way to earn or pay for food. Even families who receive foreign remittances are no longer able to rely on money coming in as many foreign workers in the service industries in the UAE, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore are no longer able to send any money back.
That’s why I am asking for your help in providing food the most vulnerable. The cost of feeding one person per day is only ONE DOLLAR and even the smallest donations will make a big difference. If you are unable to donate, please pass this along to your friends, parents, families, or post it to your social media.
For just a highlight of the situation, please see the news stories below:

News reports such as these paint a very bleak picture of the conditions. The word of mouth stories are even worse. It is difficult for me to sit here, able to still attend school and live a relatively unchanged life, while there are people starving not too far away.
In my limited time in this country, I have found the ideals of community and family to be among the most important parts of the local culture. In that spirit, and out of respect for the generous natures of the Filipino people, I would like to appeal to you to join me in helping provide basic food items to these vulnerable people who are in crisis right now.
After much research, the program I have chosen to donate to is called Bayan Bayanihan which is a food program for the Filipinos, a partnership between the Asian Development Bank and the private sector of the Philippines. (100% of donations will go to them.) They are able to provide the necessary logistics to provide basic food packs to families immediately. Please help. Please spread the word.

Wishing safety and good health for you and your loved ones through this trying times.
Maraming Salamat
Thank you very much
