Tony suffered a stroke early this morning and was rushed by ambulance to Meadville Medical Center. A scan revealed a blockage in the left side of his brain and was life flighted to Hamot in Erie. He was rushed to surgery where the Neutologist discovered a tear in one of the carotid arteries in his neck, which was exacerbated by a loop in the blood vessel that sends blood to his brain. This loop caused the blood from the tear to pool, which sent a clot to his brain. They were able to remove most of the clot. He is currently in ICU and will remain for at least the next 24 hours. We won’t know the lasting effects of the stroke until he is seen by the rehab team, probably in the next day or two. He is still struggling to form words and is very confused. The meds make him groggy, so he is resting.
