Dedra's Brain Tumor Support

Thank You for visiting our page created for our Sister, Military Spouse, Mentor, Friend, and mother to many. Dedra's journey began in June 2017 while driving her 4 children on her way back to her home in Northern Virginia as she LOST VISION while driving her vehicle with all children in the Passengers seat. As her vision came back, she was able to make it home safely.
Following that incident that day she was checked by an Optometrist and diagnosed with a Ocular Migraine, New Glasses and sent on her way. Following the 1st episode, on June of 2017 she began to feel something was not right and her sight began deteriorating even more.
In October 2017, she had a similar episode and returned for a repeat visit to the same Optometrist. This time the Optometrist then referred her to a Retinal Specialist in Northern Virginia who ordered up an MRI of her Brain, Head, and Eye Orbits. In an Emergency situation following her MRI on October 24, 2017 she was found to have a mass the size of a Golf Ball behind her eyes.
Brain Surgery for a decompression was performed on October 27, 2017 to help relieve pressure on her Optic Chiasm to prevent permanent Blindness. The intial diagnosis was believed to be a Pitutary Adenoma and/or Craniopharyngioma of the Brain.
After receiving a sight saving Sub-Labial (through the lip) Transphonedial Brain Surgery she had to receive follow-up MRI'S quarterly. At her 3 months, she was found to have a cystic reoccurance of what is confirmed and/or believed to be a Craniopharyngioma which is a Tumor of cystic and calcified portions.
These tumors are Very Rare with less than 75 cases a year in the world being diagnosed and a high rate of return without complete removal, a resection, and radiation. Most of these are found in children and treated with St.Jude's Medical Center.
We as a Military Family are raising funds for our travel to the Physicians and The Proton Center that has the most experience in the US with these tumors. The gifts of monetary support will be used to assist in Hotels, Airfare, and Bills that arise from the Medical Care as we travel with our Family to seek the experience needed for this surgery.
Please put us in your prayers, thoughts, intentions, and any good vibes you have to flow her way! On Behalf of Team Dedra we Thank You!
