Apollos Emergency Surgery

Hey everyone,

my name is Apollo and I am a 2.5 year old German shepherd. I was born in march of 2021, and my mommy (Rebecca) has had me ever since.

I am a happy, friendly, food and people loving fella! I love a good cuddle session with mommy and endless belly rubs. My favorite thing to do is going on long walks in the mountains or playing catch with my brother Zeus. I also love swimming, and mommy takes me often! I am a good boy, but I am really in pain.

Over the weekend I ate something I shouldn’t have, and since Tuesday morning I have been throwing up everything, I don’t want to eat or drink, or even move. I feel very sleepy and sick and keep throwing up green stuff (my mom calls it bile).

Today (Thursday) my mom took me to the vet and they poked me for some blood tests and shaved all my hair for an ultrasound that really tickled. Well I guess it wasn’t good news bc now my mommy is back and sitting next to me and crying. I heard the doctor tell her that I have a foreign body obstruction in my intestines, whatever that is?!

The nice doctor said I have to get surgery urgently bc my blood glucose is very low they’re worried about me going septic. The current estimate is 11,984.05$ to 13,182.46$. Which is a lot of money for my mommy.

Let me tell you about my mommy, her name is Becca and she is 23 years old and she moved to America in 2020. She is a full time student studying neuroscience and biomedical sciences. She is the commissioner of student equity and cultural affairs at her school and stands up for everyone. She even tutors to help others succeed in school. She also works two jobs to pay for all our needs and I know she’s really tired.

My mommy always fosters lots of dogs, transports, donates and volunteers for dog rescues in California, like “bubbles dog rescue” and “shepherds paws animal rescue”.

My favorite fosters this year were Roxy the one eyed puppy (who lost her eye to blunt force trauma) and Lola, a tripod, who was found almost dead next to the road and my mommy and SPARI saved her.

My mommy always helps everyone else and hates asking for help, but she doesn’t know what to do. I have 3 furry siblings and one foster sister, so my mommy can’t afford all this money.
