53km Ultra for BW53

Donation protected
Hi, we’re Abi and Freya, and later this year we are running a 53km ultramarathon around Nottingham to raise money for the ‘Barnaby Webber Foundation’. Barney was killed in a senseless, horrific attack in June. 53km is in tribute to Barney’s cricket shirt number 53.

This challenge not only honours his memory but also serves as a powerful representation of his legacy, ensuring Barney’s name is kept alive whilst raising money for an amazing foundation.

We as many others would agree, losing Grace, Barney and Ian in such a tragic way on 13th June 2023 has had a huge and devastating impact on everyone. I want to push myself to this challenge to honour Barney in a way that we can feel closer to him by raising money for the inspiring foundation set up in his name. Barney holds a special place in my heart and my heart aches for Barney’s beautiful family. Whenever we saw one another in Nottingham, he made sure to reach out with a smile and a hug, showing just how thoughtful and kind he was. Barney’s lasting memories and humour will forever be remembered. I still haven’t met anyone that can make me laugh the same way that Barney tells his stories. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and appreciated, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Barney you are missed by so many. There’s not a day that goes by where you are not in my thoughts. - Freya

From the first time I met Barney in Year 3 to our time together at Nottingham Uni, his kindness, authenticity, and warmth shone through. I have such fond memories of Barney and he was always ready with a friendly smile and a welcoming hug.
I will never understand why this happened to him, and the sadness it brought to all the amazing people around him, especially his wonderful family. My heart broke when I heard the news, and not a day passes when Barney is not in my thoughts. The love and support shown by so many proves what an amazing and kind-hearted person he was – which inspires me to keep his memory alive. I hope through this challenge we can connect with others whilst raising money for an inspiring cause. - Abi

The ‘Barnaby Webber Foundation’ aims to support young people facing life challenges, and secondly, will support grassroot cricket clubs with equipment to encourage young people to play. All donations to this page will be given to the Barnaby Webber Foundation and received very gratefully.

Our run will take place around Nottingham on Sunday 3rd November 2024, and will follow a route including Lenton, University of Nottingham campus, and the city centre. More updates and details about our route will follow. We would appreciate as much support as possible whilst we do our best to honour Barney, Grace and Ian, their foundations, and their incredible families.
