My fiancé and I split, and my other partner is going back up to Minnesota for a job opportunity since he is unable to find any jobs down here, and I also cannot find any jobs, unfortunately. And I will be left without a mode of transportation. It is important in general to have a car, but also, my kiddo lives with my ex, and I want to be able to pick him up and go see him, and he lives about 2 hours away. So, I thought I would give it a shot at fundraising for a car downpayment. I'm looking at Toyota in general and trying not to get anything older than 10 years, so it doesn't need repairs right away as I get the car.
Shooting for a Camry or a Highlander (a Highlander is my preference, but I can for sure do a Camry). I am also considering a Prius so I can save on gas. Toyotas last FOREVER, from experience and in the research I have done. So I will be going with one of those.
Trying to get a down payment of at 1-2k, $500 at the least, with a "that would be pretty neat" goal of about half the car's worth that I can use to make my payments. My partner will be sending me money from up north after getting his job to help with living expenses, and my ex said he is also willing to help me out. After the lease is up in May, I will be possibly heading up to Minnesota with my partner to go where the jobs are, but this is all still up in the air (don't wanna be far from my kiddo if I don't have to be).
