This outstanding guy that you all know and love, our son and brother Steve, was recently diagnosed with liver cirrhosis at the young age of 39 and will be having a liver transplant as soon as possible. He has been hospitalized in ICU for the past 3 weeks and is currently admitted to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. 
The family has rearranged their lives to be by his side and our parents have relocated to San Francisco for the long haul, securing temporary housing. This in addition to learning that Steve will need to remain within 50 miles of the hospital for 3 months after the surgery obviously creates many additional expenses during this difficult time that Steve is now focusing on and worrying about when all we want him to focus on is his mental strength and healing. He has agreed to allow this Gofundme account to help ease this burden and let him return to his prime focus, his health. Thankfully, Steve has excellent health insurance.
