Michael Chambers(Papa)

Hello Everyone, I am John Chambers, son of Michael Chambers, also known as Papa to many others. On 01/31/2018, Papa was driving his big rig in Cleveland, OH, when he lost consciousness and got into a minor vehicle accident. No one else was injured and His semi truck was towed away. Papa had no pulse when medical staff and police found him. Ems was able to revive him and he is currently in ICU, at a hospital in Cleveland, still unconscious but moderately stable. After a CT scan and an MRI, Doctors said that he has a cancerous tumor in the front left side of his brain. He is also dealing with post cardiac arrest and seizures caused by this tumor, and currently running a fever on top of it all. Medical staff are keeping him sedated at this time to maintain low blood pressure. The doctors and nurses are going to continue with tests and exams until they determine the next step in this long painful journey. Please continue to pray faithfully for Papa. My father is such a strong and loving Christian man and would do the same for anybody else. He is always looking out for others and is such a great person, father, and friend. I am starting this Go Fund Me page because my father was the main financial provider for my mother and younger sister and brother. Papas semi-truck is currently in a tow lot and fines to get it out right now today(02/02/2018), is at $1800. Along with various medical bills, him not being able to work anymore, and my mom temporarily not working so she is able to be here by his side through it all. I thank all of you for reading this, praying for him and our family. If you are able to donate anything towards him and our family to help out during this time, it would be very much appreciated. May God bless all of you and thanks once again for your help. Love you all. -John

**UPDATE! 03/28/2018 - The last four weeks since my father's brain surgery have been a whirlwind. My father who was regularly working 70 hours a week as the sole proprietor of his small trucking business and the main provider for his family prior to the tragedy that took place on January 31, 2018, is unfortunately still unable to walk, get out of bed or sit unassisted, feed, bathe or dress himself. He suffered a brain tumor hemorrhage, multiple seizures & dual cardiac arrests, while on the interstate in Cleveland on his way home to Buffalo, NY from Loraine, OH; and he was helicoptered to Cleveland Clinic where he was diagnosed as having a Glioblastoma brain tumor (classified as a very aggressive, terminal cancerous brain tumor; the same tumor which has afflicted Senator John McCain) and where he has also suffered multiple medical complications. My father is expected to undergo costly radiation/chemo/or cancer immunotherapy treatments as soon as possible. On March 8th, he started a very intensive occupational, physical and speech therapy program at the Cleveland Clinic to attempt to recover his physical and mental health. My father's memory, speech and physical abilities are improving every day; however, he has a lot of hard work ahead of him and he is not expected to return back to his trucking business. We are in the process of completing Papa’s application for Social Security Disability benefits for him; but the SSD payments will not cover or include the first six months of his disability, putting my parents in a SERIOUS FINANCIAL CRISIS. The soonest they will begin to receive SSD payments would be August 2018. In addition to their monthly mortgage, income tax & other bills at home in Buffalo, my mom and younger sister Grace are still incurring daily living expenses (rent, parking fees, food and etc…) while staying in Cleveland to attend to Papa.

Any donations received from this GOFUNDME account will help cover the expenses listed above as well as the medical bills and cancer treatments for my father, which are not covered by their insurance.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of people like you, my father’s tractor and trailer were picked up February 6th at the tow yard in Ohio and brought back to Buffalo, NY, my parent’s February and March mortgage payments and household bills were paid on time, and food and accommodations have been provided for February and March for my mom and younger sister, Grace.
Unfortunately, over $6,300.00 of the funds donated so far had to go to pay my father’s American Express Business account bill which was due in February, in order to avoid incurring the exorbitant interest. My mom was on the phone for hours with American Express in an attempt to see if they would accept a smaller monthly payment and defer the interest on the remaining balance so she could stretch the monies she had received over the next six months. However, even after notifying Amex of my father’s medical emergency and his recent brain surgery they still insisted they had to talk to my father personally and refused to work with my mom despite the fact that she is a secondary card holder on the account, and she was able to answer all of their security questions. Paying this bill was one giant step back financially, especially at a time when their funds are already so limited.
Due to this increased financial burden, my siblings & I are appealing to all of our friends & family, and friends of friends on behalf of our parents; hoping to gain the financial assistance that is so desperately needed at this time. We have pooled together all of our resources & still are unable to meet their needs on our own. We are praying and believing that God will make a way where there seems to be no way and enable them to continue to pay their mortgage and all their other bills throughout the 6 month period that they will be without any income. Without your help, we know meeting this incredible need would not be possible! We pray that you will consider donating to help them through this crisis as well as continue to pray for Papa's full and complete healing so that he will be restored, mentally and physically to the man he was before - The best man, husband, father and friend anyone could ask for.

We are so thankful for all of the thoughts, prayers and generosity already provided throughout this incredibly difficult time. The outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, co-workers, friends of friends, church members, and everyone who has donated to our family, has been amazing and we are blessed beyond measure because of each and every one of you.
Please feel free to share this with your friends & family!
