Support Bisrat’s Journey in Global Health at Emory

Hello :),
My name is Bisrat, and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for support in continuing my education at Emory University.
Last year, I was accepted into Emory’s MPH in Global Health program with full funding, thanks to my work and experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Addis Ababa. Unfortunately, due to a visa denial, my entry was delayed, causing my funding to be retracted.
In Addis Ababa, I had the privilege of working as a Program Officer , where I led initiatives in SRHR and GBV education, advocacy, and service provision. My work included research in women health , advocating for gender equity, and establishing safe spaces for women and girls. Additionally, I’ve championed meaningful youth engagement, gender equity, and disability inclusion through various roles, including my current position as Youth Co-Chair at Knowledge SUCCESS. My creativity and commitment have been recognized globally—I was a finalist in the CPHIA Creative Contest and honored as an ICFP Youth Trailblazer. These experiences reflect my dedication to driving impactful change, making me well-rounded and deeply committed to the causes I work for.
I am currently exploring loan options and other funding resources to sustain myself. However, I find myself facing a significant challenge: while I have secured on-campus jobs to cover my living expenses, I am struggling to pay for my tuition.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will help me continue my education and pursue my dream of making a difference in global health.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting me during this challenging time. If you know of any funding opportunities, I would be grateful for your connections.
