Please help our family rebuild from Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
UPDATE: I thank each of you so much for your donation!! I have raised the amount so that I may gather enough funds to secure a dependable means of transportation I have since been able to secure shelter although it is twice the amount I was paying at the damaged home (thank God, I still had my job after the storm!) and we were in fact able to get the cars out. The white car in the picture immediately broke all the way down frying the electrical system and it's not able to be driven. The small gray colored one in the picture is having severe complications to the point I'm going to have to get another car. Please continue to spread the word so I can continue having employment and keep my head afloat! I thank you all so much and I'm so grateful for all of your support! Be blessed!
My name is Sarah Coulter. I am reaching out in need of assistance. On September 27, 2024, as Hurricane Helene ripped through the tiny towns I've grown up in, I was living on Bee Tree Rd in Swannanoa, NC. It was one of the areas hit really hard. These towns are now flat; there's nothing left. I was startled to my feet early in the morning by a tree crashing through the kitchen. My sons and I laid on the floor with pillows over our heads, hoping for some type of cover. The trees kept crashing down, and the house was flooding from the holes. We built a dam of blankets, hoping it could stream out the door, but when we opened the door, the flood was level with the porch. Our cars were covered with water. We had one escape and waded through the swift water to the road. We locked arms and ran up to a neighbor's house that was on higher ground. That's where my picture was taken from. The road was crumbled as if it were made of Legos. My oldest son climbed through all of the broken roads, some with holes the size of a hotel, through raging water to come rescue my other two sons, the family friend that was spending the night, and myself.
I had just started rebuilding in January of 2024 after already having experienced homelessness, but by the grace of God, I was able to have a home. For the first time, I was able to pay bills on time!! Until Helene decided differently. I believe our cars are stuck, the house was flooded, and already not well built as it was very old. I just need enough money to start over. I am currently going through steps to move into a new place but will need $2500.00 to move in, whatever fees for transferring utilities will be, at least $200.00 for some start up groceries until i can earn another paycheck, I will need to purchase a few clothing items and toiletriesfor each member of my household. Ithink $3500 can cover the most of that. I am blessed to still have employment that I am now able to return to if I have transportation. We lost clothes, shoes, toiletries, everything, so we are very grateful for any type of assistance!
We're running out of supplies in our whole city. We have stuff coming, but without a car, it's very hard to get to it or get anything done. I'm still in desperate need of shelter for my sons and me. We lost two vehicles, all of our belongings except what we threw in a bookbag and climbed out with. Anything helps!! Absolutely anything helps! We will be so grateful for any help possible!
