Kitten HotRod Amputation Fund

HotRod-Qantas a Seal Point Pure Siamese was born with two deformed front legs. Her legs were tangled/restricted in the womb from very early in her formation. We noticed straight away on birth and assumed Mother Nature would make a choice in her future. We thought that she wouldnt be able to get to milk and would loose power and fail. But this did not happen. HotRod-Qantas had a strength to survive and that she has done. She fought harder and harder as her other siblings grew stronger. She didnt have the use of front legs to push up onto teets for milk from Mum. Siblings growth progressed and HotRod growth waned. I started to offer a little more help by pulling the big kittens off the milk and putting her on. But as she didnt have normal working front legs she was easily pushed off milk. In the past i have fought long and hard to keep kittens alive with not many good results, it seemed i always lost and only prolonged the inevitable and stressing myself and mummy cat out as the mummy cat would see me upset .Some times i would look into the mums eyes and she would be telling me let go. But HotRod-Qantas survived. As she grew she adapted in how she moved. Her rear legs took over and she started using her front legs as best she could. As a small kitten she started standing up on her hind legs to get the edge on her siblings started kicking like a Kungfu master . We (under Vet Instruction) bound one leg to partially straighten it but the other remained quite un natural. She grew and now remains. She is a smoochy kitty and always looks for contact with me or when kittens come to visit she always calls for company. Although she is lovely lovely purring machine she is very weary of strangers as her visits into other humans hands has been that of vet visits that have caused her pain. She sits on rear legs like a meerkat and to my eye often silouettes like the Qantas flying Roo on the tail of the Australian national aircraft. After two vet visits it was planned to wait untill she is six months old and amputate at least one leg at the shoulder, three nights ago it was noticed she has shattered her one deformed leg. So as young as she is, it now must be removed. The broken bone is very sharp pointing forward the bottom bone is sharp pointing down. She now holds it up off the ground where as before she just stood on it but no control of the legs was able. I see her now in pain but as kittens go she still tties to do all what kittens do. It is horrible to see her leg folded into wickedly unnatural positions. Prior those positions never bothered her. But now i see it hurts her. Putting herself in further danger as she falls and lands on her head neck and other parts.
