A Cause for Amaya ♡
Donation protected
Hello all,
With permission of Amaya’s parents (Gerald and Krizza Capistrano), the de Guzman family is organizing this fundraiser “A Cause for Baby Amaya.”
Baby Amaya is facing a future that no child should ever have to. At the mere age of 15 months, Amaya was diagnosed with a rare condition called Aplastic Anemia. Aplastic anemia is a rare blood disorder that affects the bone marrow, where the body’s blood cells are produced. In this condition, the bone marrow fails to produce enough red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, leading to a decrease in the body’s ability to carry oxygen, fight infection, and stop bleeding. The condition is particularly concerning when it affects children as it can have a significant impact on their growth and development.
Baby Amaya’s diagnosis requires her to remain in the vicinity of Gainesville Children’s Hospital, as she is completely transfusion-dependent at this time in order to help her compromised immune system. She will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant and follow up treatments. Bone marrow transplants are extremely invasive to the patient and are deeply taxing to her entire family – physically, emotionally, and financially. Fortunately, Amaya’s dad (Gerald) has been identified as a match. However, this also means Amaya’s dad will have to stop working in order to recover as well, which ultimately results in loss of family income. Amaya's mom, Krizza, has also stopped working to be with Amaya in Gainesville for 3-6 months. Through this fundraising, we are hopeful that Amaya’s parents will be able to focus on her health and journey to recovery, not the financial burdens that come hand-in-hand with childhood illness.
We are seeking the assistance of anyone in the position to donate to help us get Amaya the medical assistance and treatment she needs. All donations received will be allocated toward living arrangements, expenses that occur with traveling to and from transfusions, doctor visits, hospital stays, and any other medical expenses that Amaya’s family may encounter along the way. This journey to Amaya’s healing is expected to be long, but we are firm believers of divine breakthroughs, in Jesus’ Name.
If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask you to share this link instead. We thank you for your time and prayers.
