I am reaching out to people , hoping we can help my friend.
She's 56 and has been caring for others since 16 years old , working in nursing homes , residential agency also providing palliative care at home. Nearly 8 years ago , on 26th june 2015 she had to give up work as a family member suffered life changing injuries.
On that day 7 years later she was taken to hospital with concussion type symptoms dizziness vomiting slurred speech, sensitive to light and noise , they did a scan and when they repeated it, they confirmed she had a front lobel AVM in her brain .
They explained to her it was a rare condition and was like a timebomb as it could cause a brain bleed she had to stay in hospital for a few days and then queens hospital in Romford took over her care. After many angiograms mri etc , the consultant said he could perform open brain surgery but was concerned of risks on the operating table and infection after and had spoken to Sheffield hospital who felt they may be able to treat it with gamma knife surgery which can come with later problems ie swelling of the brain, fits etc six months after treatment Getting to Sheffield is a 3/4 hour drive from and we have to do it 4 times.  I will need  a cheap hotel near to hospital so i am with her on day of the op . Cat will lose wages whilst she is recovering and I know she's extremely worried about how she will manage, she is supposed to be staying calm because of condition. She's very good at caring for others, and not so good at caring for herself. If you can help take some worry away during and while recovering so she can concentrate on not worrying Many thanks

What is an AVM?
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are abnormal, snarled tangles of blood vessels that cause multiple irregular connections between your arteries and veins. These malformations most often occur in the spinal cord and in any part of your brain or on its surface but can develop elsewhere in the body

A brain Avm is rare approx affecting 1%of the population if left untreated this ticking timebomb can cause a brain bleed. Cat cannot have the avm surgically removed due to the risk of a bleed during operation and infection, so Cat has been referred to Sheffield neurological hospital for gamma knife treatment which appears imminent and awaiting a pre procedure appointment to meet the medical team radiologists. Counselling etc. It will take approx 2years for it not to be classed as a life endangering threat with frequent check ups.
