Life has thrown them some curve balls and they need our help! A hand up if you will. Tom is currently taking chemotherapy for his second battle with cancer. He originally had prostate cancer in 2014 and successfully fought! He was cancer free until now and he is taking intense chemo to fight the cancer that is now in his liver and spleen. Recent scans are showing hopeful signs that the 30 hour extensive chemo is working. This chemo requires hospitalization and in the future when he has completed this course he will undergo a T-cell transplant. Tom worked for a small employer and lost his job as he is unable to work.
During the midst of all this struggle Carol began to have trouble with her foot. Because she is diabetic it became a bigger issue and she was confined to a boot and cane and eventually a wheelchair. Her foot continued to worsen until she recently was forced to undergo a partial amputation of her leg. When Carol was hospitalized for this most traumatic event in her life, Tom as unable to be there due to his illness. Carol has just returned to work in March and is in a wheelchair until she can heal enough to receive a temporary prosthetic. Though they have insurance you can imagine that it’s not even beginning to cover all these expenses.
In addition, they currently have a heat pump that is not working so they have no heat and no air! They also desperately need some updating to their home to accommodate Carols handicap needs.
So I’m asking you if you can to donate. The funds will go to repair their air before the heat of summer comes so that Tom can be as comfortable as possible while he is battling cancer. Also, we plan to remove the tub and replace with a shower that can accommodate Carols needs. And of course, we want to help them with their mounting medical bills.
All labor for the air and bathroom will be donated by my husband but we will need help in getting the materials needed, ie; new heat pump and bathroom materials.
Lastly I want to tell you how amazing my friend Carol has been through this entire ordeal. I did not know the extent of her circumstances for a long time because she came to work each day with a grateful heart. Happy to have a job. Always smiling and remaining in high spirits! I just couldn’t believe when I learned all that she had been through and I just had to find a way to help.
Won’t you help us give the Stoners a hand up! Thank you in advance for your generosity.
