If you are one who runs, you most likely have met race photographer, Howie Stern. And if you had met Howie, chances are high that you met Miki and Joey, his Malamute and Husky. Or— have heard of them or seen them in many posts and calendars http://www.howiestern.com/Canines/Canine-Companions/ .
Few days ago, Joey (the Husky), was diagnosed with the big C. Yes, cancer. Dogs get it, too. Because of this cancer, Joey will most likely need surgery. With that, we know, comes recovery and rehab, especially if the doctors are right in saying Joey will need surgery to amputate the sarcoma on his leg.
Income generated from race-photography and some music gig here and there, however, is not enough to help cover costs. In the few years that I’ve known Howie, he is not one to ask help. Many of us know that. Thus, with the great mind of our friend, Naomi Ruiz, who suggested setting up this GoFundMe page, I ask for whatever amount you can spare towards this fund.
Joey and Miki are Howie’s “life” and Howie, though his race photos over the years, helped capture our most wonderful, beautiful, ugly, and bad— yet unforgettable— moments running those miles in one click of his camera.
Help me help Howie help Joey.
Your help will go a long way and will be greatly appreciated.
