My name is Jim and the goal for this project is to travel to various countries across the world to summit some of the most EPIC & ICONIC Mountains and capture the footage so people can see these magnificent sights from the comfort of their homes.
There are 50 Mountains and Trails on the list and the goal is to hike and scramble up some of the highest in their respective countries over a 2-year period between August 2026 & August 2028 . I am calling this the 50M2Y Challenge (50 Mountains - 2 Years).

CRADLE MOUNTAIN - Another epic Mountain in Tasmania and very similar to the Welsh peak of Tryfan.
So why do I want to do this?
I have been passionate about Mountains and Hiking for many years and especially since my Mum passed away from Dementia in January 2023. I have been walking and running for nearly 10 years - after hitting my lowest ebb in 2013 after being diagnosed with Tinnitus I felt I needed to make a change to try and get through it so I started to get outdoors and into nature more. I have undertaken many events for charity and raised some good amounts including £1500 in April 2023 when I summited Snowdon for Dementia UK three years ago.
I have done some epic hikes including Trolltunga, Ben Nevis, Tryfan, Scafell Pike, Pulpit Roch and many more but I want to expand on this journey further and take it to the next level so I need funding to do it as all of the hikes and equipment have been self-funded over the last 3 years.
This last year has been particularly tough both financially and mentally as I got made redundant from my computer games industry job in June 2025 - I currently work as a freelance 3D Artist but work is never guaranteed. Unfortunately I was also diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowell Disease in November 2025, this has been tough to take and causes me bad anxiety which I am trying to work through - it isn’t easy with the symptoms and ongoing care but I am trying my very best to push on - it has made me realise you only have one life and I would love to achieve something different and summit these peaks before it’s too late. I want to move forward and this project will certainly help me achieve this as it will give me something of real substance to aim for as I yearn to get direction back in my life since I turned 50 last year. Ultimately this project is dedicated to my beloved late Mum who I lost to Dementia in 2023 - this was also very hard to take and watch over a 7-year period of decline so I would love to make my Mum proud by continuing on this journey.
There are a lot of mountains to cover and I will continue to record all of this footage and bring it to you in 4K on my YouTube channel which I have been building up over the last 3 years and I hope to continue doing that. This channel is not just a point and click adventure - when I am out hiking I like to tell people about the history of the mountain or trail with various facts such as the history, geology and elevation as well as tips for parking and hiking the trail for yourself. To top it off there are awesome views and drone footage of these amazing trails and mountains.

So where will the money go?
The money will go towards travel costs as there will be many flights to take as well as campsites, hotels, equipment, parking, petrol, car hire and general living costs as I also need to keep paying my mortgage and supporting my family. I will also need to prepare properly with fitness, altitude and technical training to make sure I am fit enough to finish these hikes and stay safe. Triglav in Slovenia is a gruelling 17 mile hike and 7,500 feet of elevation gain with some scrambling and ropes required near the summit so I need to be fully prepared for this. Mount Whitney is also a mega 14,550 feet so I need time to prepare for the altitude and the strenuous elevation gain as mountains are dangerous places and much prep work is needed to have the best chance of summiting safely.
The end goal is also to register Moving Our Mind as an official charity in the UK and with this funding I will be a step closer to doing this and helping more people.
Stretch Goals?
If I can reach my 50K target that would be absolutely fantastic. Any money that stretches beyond this ambitious amount will ultimately help me purchase more solid equipment and take the pressure off the daily living costs of paying for a mortgage and having children. The end goal is to purchase a camper van with a toilet and shower which would help immensely after the hikes especially with the IBD diagnosis.
