When I was a freshman in high school, I was blessed to go on an international mission trip to Panama where I helped build homes, experienced a whole new culture, and got to learn how easy it is to love and receive from someone that speaks a completely different language than me. I went back to Panama three times after, and it has sparked a passion in my heart for missions.
This summer, along with a friend of mine that I met at JH Ranch on staff last year, I have been presented with the opportunity to go to Gisneyi, Rwanda to help out at the Ndengera Foundation. The Ndengera Foundation is located in the Northwest region of the country. Along with providing educational opportunities and specialized job training for the Rwandan people, the Foundation offers medical care. Recently, a maternity care/birthing facility has been added.
I hope to assist with finances for the foundation, as well as help in any other way possible. My prayer for the summer is to show so much love to the Rwandan people and be apart of the betterment of their futures in any way that I can. I also pray that I can learn from Rwandans about their experiences and their culture.
All thanks is to Dr. Chris Finley, the founder of this mission. Dr. Finley is a practicing emergency medicine doctor in Vancouver, Washington. He takes annual trips to the Nedengera Foundation and hopes to be there with Robert and I at some point. I plan on being there from late June to August.
