5000 Cartwheels 4 Pete & Motor Neurone Association
My Dad, Pete Mills, somersaulted his way to 60 quite literally. He was physically the strongest person I know. Whenever we went out for the day or on holiday you could be sure my Dad was cartwheeling, somersaults or hand standing and a photo was taken, like the cover photo of dad aged 54 in Sydney!
Heartbreak struck when in 2018 and after a several years of struggling and waiting on test results Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
This disease has physically depleted my dad and as a family it breaks our heart to watch him fight (and he really is fighting) the daily battles of everyday existence.
MND is a rare condition affecting the nervous system which controls the muscles and is fatal. We would like to raise funds to support Exeter and East Devon MND Association to support individuals living with the disease.
SO WHY 5000 CARTWHEELS?
We are gymnasts and that’s our thing! And at present there are estimated to be 5000 people who have MND and we want to cartwheel for each one of them!
My Dad was a gymnast and one of the founders of Exeter of Exeter Gymnastics club along with his Dad, Des Mills. In 1993 he founded Devon Gymnastics clubs, a recreational club which covered: Axminster, Broadclyst, Crediton, Colyton, Exmouth, Ottery, Okehampton and Sidmouth. Over the years we have taught thousands of children, so I know a lot of you would have met, heard, chatted and probably been coached by my Dad.
So please support us to support the MND association in our style:
Rotate, donate, take a picture and make it great!
