5000 E-Readers to Impoverished Students in India
Donation protected
The novel Coronavirus pandemic has affected the world in unimaginable ways. Due to this global pandemic, India has imposed the largest national lockdown in the world. With curfews, schools are being closed down abruptly and moving to online platforms.
In the past month, we have delivered 200 E-Readers to low-income families who live in slums. We now need your support to deliver 5,000 more E-Readers to give every student in the district an opportunity to continue their education at home. Our goal is the help students in Chennai, India to gain access to remote learning by providing them with e-learning tablets. Help us get these kids back to classes.
7-year-old Juhi is now unable to learn the necessary math functions like addition and subtraction since in-person classes have been suspended. Math is an essential skill that is needed for her to be successful throughout her education and life. It is important to Juhi and her family to ensure that she doesn’t fall behind grade level but her family is unable to provide the necessary resources to support her current learning.
10-year-old Amit was one of the first 200 who received an E-Reader and was previously struggling to stay up with his classmates. Amit lives with his grandmother who isn’t always able to help with his homework because her English isn’t the best. Although he is still behind for his grade, he has made consistent progress in increasing his reading ability.
The goal for project E-Readers for Kids in India is to finish what we have started and provide students from KG to Grade 5 in Chennai’s corporation schools, that come primarily from low-income families, the accessibility to remote education. Students who don’t have access to E-Readers will be held back a grade level, causing an impact on social adjustment, attitude towards school, and self-competence.
Help parents prevent their children from being held back by providing their kids access to an E-Reader when these parents are unable to provide the educational resources needed for their kids.
Goal: Allow 5,000 more KG to Grade 5 students to feed their curiosity
