On Saturday, October 11th, 2025 I'll be setting off on the 5th Annual Ride for the Climate (it will be my fourth) with my mentor and good friend Glen Caradus.

This year we've chosen 5 Counties Children's Center as the beneficiary for our fundraising efforts! They are an amazing organization that provides therapy and treatment services to assist children with developmental delays in building the skills they need in everyday life, such as walking, talking, and activities of daily living.

With the effects of the Climate Crisis literally "heating up" this year's ride, we hope to inspire all to take actionable steps to take care of our beautiful planet. In terms of 5 counties, these funds would allow us to provide these children with access to a healthy green space for treatment in our community. What Glen describes as a "habitat garden with a water feature."

When the environment needs support, creating urban habitats can provide a local ecosystem or an "oasis" of sorts for local pollinators and creatures to find homes and refuge in a changing climate. Children also find wonder and exploration in these sorts of places, as we have witnessed in our years of experience as outdoor educators.
