500 Bikes And A Classroom For Ester In Namibia

Ester is a wonderful lady who runs a creche/daycare for impoverished children at risk in Tsumeb, Namibia.

Bikes For Humanity Vancouver is a 100% grassroots volunteer organization working to get our latest shipping container of 500 bikes to our partner Bikes For Humanity Namibia. Your much appreciated donation will not only help fund the shipping of the bikes to Namibia but will also allow the container to move on to an incredible second life as a schoolhouse for Ester and the many children she helps in her community.

The B4H Namibia team has been supporting Ester and her Creche for the last two and a half years. Ester is an orphan herself due to both her parents dying of the AIDS virus when she was still at school. Ester put herself through school and post school education to make a better life for herself. She has a huge heart for children and takes in whomever she can, even to her own disadvantage at times - for instance when parents cannot afford to pay the very small fees she charges each month.

Ester and her husband have been donated a piece of land with the goal of building a daycare/schoolhouse for the near 100 children she cares for on a daily basis. She has run her Creche since 2016 using a church as a temporary shelter and now a very run down tin shack on her new property with no insulation from the heat or cold.

Also a huge thanks to Eric Abbruzzese and Sam Cable from Portland who donated 300+ bikes, what an incredible donation to quickly fill this latest container! As well we'd like to thank NRI Distribution for hosting our 40 ft containers for the past few years and Big Dog Containers for their help and discount when sourcing them. And last but not least a thanks to our good friend Jason Pozniak at Pacific Coast Distribution for his help getting the last container to port.

DONATION TIERS

The $50 to $200 tiers are an incredible gift, just sayin! ;)

$5 or $10 - a huge thanks coupled with solid karma
$20 - you help cover the cost of shipping 1 bike (500 bikes x $20 each equals the $10,000 we need)
$50 - a hand print on the schoolhouse with the name of your choice
$100 - a hand print plus a print copy of The Dream Cycle - Laura + Ester's story
$200 - a hand print, The Dream Cycle book plus a personalized thank you video from the B4H team
$1000 - corporate sponsor - your company logo on the schoolhouse along with a "social good" media package

$10,000 is a lot of money. How will the funds be distributed?

- $5,000 to Ocean Shipping (includes the container donation to be converted to a school room in Tsumeb, Namibia)
- $3,000 to B4H Vancouver for purchasing a replacement 40 ft bike container for future use in Vancouver
- $1000 to crane, transport and port fees in Vancouver
- $1000 to crane, transport and port fees in Namibia

500 BIKES + A CLASSROOM = AN INCREDIBLE BOOST TO THE COMMUNITY OF TSUMEB!
