500 Squat Challenge
This month we are doing fundraising a bit different. On Saturday, July 24th we’ll be doing a 500 (air) squat challenge. This is a community event, both online and in-person and invites people from all over the world to join in.
Our goal is 150 people joining in and raise $7,500 to help with salaries, rent and so we can be ready to open.
Participation Cost: $50/person
There is a participation cost (this is a fundraiser after all) and we’ll send you a special commemorative patch (iron-on) so that when you recover your legs, you can stumble along with your memory on your bag or jacket.
10% Goes to Support Dr. Lucy's Pet Rescue!
Some of you may know Dr. Lucy who has been with Amatak since the beginning. Over the past 2 years has transformed her home into an animal rescue facility with over 80 cats rescued from the streets and also cares for injured dogs and provides care for animals with a terminal illness.
We will provide 10% of all proceeds from the Squat Challenge to help with her costs. If you are interested in how you might help her otherwise, please email her for more info.
Prizes! (Cambodia Only)
We'll do a few prizes (to be announced) for the fastest woman and gentlemen as well as best dressed. More info in coming weeks.
Commemorative Patch!
Everyone who pays will get a commemorative 500 Squat Patch for the event. We will mail these to international people following the event.
Format
In Person
We are going to take a chance and offer a highly controlled, in-person option:
- Start times on the hour from 7AM - 1PM, classes will be on Zen Planner
- 14 athlete cap and we'll have the floor taped with stations
- You must be fully vaccinated
For those of you based in Cambodia, you can support by signing up the old-fashioned way, with Zen Planner:
The Go Fund Me site is mainly for international supporters.
We will have a computer setup to stream through Zoom as well as a projector so you can see those who are working out remotely.
International & Remote
Whether you prefer to do this at your home or you live abroad, we will send out a Zoom link so you can suffer with your friends.
We are suggesting the following schedule for international people so that they can participate with Amatakers in Cambodia:
Tokyo: 6AM - 7AM (SAT)
Paris: 7AM - 8AM (SAT)
London: 6AM - 7AM (SAT)
US East Coast: 7PM - 8PM (FRI)
US Mid (Chicago): 6PM - 7PM (FRI)
US West Coast: 6PM - 7PM (FRI)
If you are coming in from another location, let us know and we'll schedule your time. Our goal is that you can join in with some people here, which is why the times above have been chosen.
