On Saturday, September 25th the Newington HS Girls Swimming and Diving team will be conducting their 2nd annual 50 Mile Swim for a Cure Swimathon. The team will collectively swim a 25 yard lap for every dollar that they raise, up to a total of 3,300 laps in under 2 hours. That is the equivalent of 50 miles in the Newington HS pool! They have a goal to reach $3,300. Half of ALL money raised will go to the fight for a cure against cancer. The remainder of the money will go to the team to help offset the costs of senior night, senior scholarship and the end of the season traditions. This will be our second year fundraising for our cause. Last year, with help from contributions such as yours, our swim team was able to turn over a check in the amount of $1,873 to the Hematology/Oncology Fund at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
Please consider donating to our cause in honor or memory of a loved one. In the comments section, simply type your loved ones name and the ladies on the swim team will write their name on a heart to be displayed on our Swim for a Cure banner hanging on the home team wall of the Newington HS pool.
Please help the team realize the importance of some "C" words that are much stronger than cancer and covid, like Caring, Community, Courage, Compassion, Commitment, Change and together we CAN!
Thank you so much.
