50 Days in Labrador
As summer camps closed due to Covid-19, four 19 year old men set out on a 50 day expedition in uncharted lands. With over 600 days of combined camping experience amongst the group, these brave men have embarked on an arduous journey in northern Labrador. With no marked portages, powerful rivers, and extreme temperature fluctuations, they decided to put their countless days of camping to the test. With written consent from the minister of health of Labrador, they were granted an exemption to the Special Measures Order to film a documentary about Mealy Mountain National Park to highlight its beauty and rigorous landscape.
The young men on this expedition, Alexandre Chandler, Hugo Roy Poulin, Justin Frigon, and Olivier Pommerleau have always had interest in sharing their passion for the outdoors with as many people as possible. To that note, they have expressed a desire to leverage their unique experience into a fundraising initiative towards their projects of passion. These include the TSC bursary fund, and a charity of the group's choosing in Kenya . With personal connections to both causes, they feel a drive to contribute to solving the issues these charities address.
Having had the privilege of attending the Taylor Statten Camps since they were young, they are driven to enabling those less fortunate to partake in adventures they have been able to learn and grow from. Camp can build self-confidence, encourage teamwork, leadership, and enhance one's appreciation of nature. To that end, they will donate 50% of the money raised in this campaign to the TSC bursary fund and the other 50% to a charity in Africa of the group's choosing. The TSC Bursary fund provides financial assistance that can be put towards getting kids to camp. The charity in Kenya will be geared towards building schools in places of poverty, as the groups passion is to give all kids opportunities regardless off their geographical location or access to income.
Let's work together to help kids from both sides of the world!
