Hard times, Homelessness Likely
Donation protected
This is Jennifer and Joshua Galindo; we need help. We have Anabella and Wade, 4 elderly cats, 2 dogs, a turtle and an eviction notice for $1400. On April 1st, we owe another $1300. We also have a bank account with literally $0. Life keeps kicking us while we're down.
On June 15th 2023, Anabella attempted suicide. It both devastated and woke up our family. It took multiple in-patient stays, partial hospitalization programs and intensive outpatient treatment but she is doing much better now. The stress took a toll on Wade and he also started intensive outpatient treatment. While he is doing better now, he still struggles with depression. The stress of likely homelessness has taken a massive toll on all of our mental health
Due to my PTSD from finding a dear friend after his suicide, I took short term disability from work. I was paid one time in August of 2023 and fought appeal after appeal until I was officially determined denied on March 1st 2024. I did not qualify for unemployment because I was still employed. Now that it has been denied , I am waiting to hear from unemployment and applying for every job possible.
Josh supported us on a single income through the end of 2023. He used all of his PTO, and FMLA through the last few months to make sure we all made it to appointments. After Christmas time, his work decided to switch his position and hours without contacting him while he was off for some much needed rest. During this time they chose to replace him, and were unwilling to work with him since his FMLA was used up. Joshua tried to get unemployment, but was told he voluntary quit.
Josh and I have been sober since July 22nd, 2023. We have prioritized our family's mental health since the attempt. I had started a new PTSD treatment called EMDR and everyone was seeing individual counselors . Unfortunately losing my job meant losing insurance, but we were approved for AHCCCS this month and are looking for new providers.
We were blessed with assistance from St Vincent for February's rent, a once in a lifetime gift. Just like the Emergency Rental Assistance we received from the state during Covid. We have reached out to every non profit, every church and charity we can think of and have had no luck.
