This event acknowledges that we gather and broadcast on the lands of the Turrabal, Yaggera, and Jaggera peoples and that music was created on this land for millennia. We pay our respects to elder’s past, present and emerging and stand in solidarity with their ongoing resistance against colonisation.

What’s this all about?

 

This event aims to raise funds to purchase much needed CDJs for 4ZZZ. As Australia’s longest running community radio station, 4ZZZ has a long history of amplifying Meanjin/Brisbane’s electronic music community dating back decades - CDJs will allow 4ZZZ to continue this long legacy of support. As CDJs are the standard technology used by most DJs, this equipment will ensure 4ZZZ is accessible to local electronic musicians and DJs, for both on air programming and live events. This technology will quite literally help us help the local electronic music community. Check out the 4ZZZ website for more info about the station.

 

For this event, 4ZZZ has teamed up with Quivr, another community organisation that plays a central role in Meanjin’s electronic music community. Quivr is an independent online DJ platform streaming live sets from local DJs from Meanjin’s underground dance music community, both online and irl from their home in Winn Lane, Fortitude Valley. They also offer DJ lessons and other courses that help to up-skill the local community. You can find out more about the amazing work that Quivr does through their website.

 

 

How can I listen?

 

This event encompasses both the 2D and 3D, giving you the freedom to select the dance space of your choice:

 

✭ The event will be hosted at Quivr in Winn Lane, Fortitude Valley for irl attendance – come down for a laneway boogie and a drink from Ben’s Burgers next door! Ben's sell $5 Cass beers, as well as a great selection of ales, ciders and non-alcohol options along with their tasty burgers – so please no BYO for this one guys.

 

✭ The event will also be live-streamed through the Quivr website for those wanting to tune in from the comfort of their loungeroom – the livestream will feature live video and audio from right inside the DJ booth for that intimate ‘friends with the DJ’ experience!

 

✭ Plus, from 8pm, the event will be broadcast straight onto the 4ZZZ airwaves (102.1FM) hosted by our fabulous Full Of Air and Synesthesia announcers!!

 

 

What to expect?

 

Prepare yourself for a sonic selection from current and alumni 4ZZZ announcers serving up live sets in the Quivr booth. The DJs selected provide a small snapshot of some of the amazing talent to grace the Zed airwaves over the past few decades. Expect some classic 90s rave heavers, as well as newer dance cuts, all with that distinctly weird and wild Zed flavour.

While this is a free event, we urge you to donate whatever you can to give back to the station that gives so much to our community. 4ZZZ is solely funded by subscriber subscriptions, sponsorships and the occasional grant so all donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated. Plus all donations are tax deductible. We also encourage you to consider subscribing to 4ZZZ with one of their many reasonably priced subscription options.

Our Goal

 

Our goal is to raise $7000. This will cover the following:

 

✭2 x Pioneer CDJ2000NXS2 Nexus 2 CD/Media Player Controllers (industry standard technology) – RRP $3449 each = $6,898

 

✭ Any additional funding will go towards custom lockable cabinets to house the CDJs and keep them safe in the 4ZZZ studios, as well as any costs incurred from running the event
