Lockers for Portage

Portage Park Elementary school serves just over 1000 students from approximately 750 families and is quickly becoming a leading school on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Five kindergarten classes just began their education at Portage Park Elementary this year, and these increasing class sizes need the community's support more than ever. The new middle school curriculum, an exciting initiative that will better prepare students for high school, means that the older grades change classes and must carry their books with them. The classrooms are not big enough to accommodate increasing class sizes plus their supplies.

Our goal is to help the fundraising committee raise $31,200.04 to fund lockers for the school which will benefit all our students.  Last year, we raised $8799.96 to go towards our $40,000.00 goal.  Currently, we have only 40 lockers in the entire school for the students and due to class sizes and the student’s personal belongings and study materials there is little space inside the classroom.  Lockers will help reduce the clutter and leave more room for the actual student to learn in a comfortable environment.  We hope that each family will participate in the sponsored walk to the best of its ability.
