Greetings,
I am writing this letter in hopes that you will help to brighten the life of a Dunbar student. We are currently planning our very first trip to Washington, D.C. and we need your help. Our school’s vision is to educate the whole child: socially, emotionally, physically, as well as academically, so that they can become globally competitive. In order to realize this vision we must seek ways to expose our children to more meaningful experiences everyday. Many of our students have never ventured outside of their current zip codes due to financial limitations.
My school is located in the historical neighborhood of Mechanicsville in Metro Atlanta. This community is one of the poorest communities in Georgia. However we at, Dunbar believe this classification does not define or limit the possibilities of our esteemed students. We are committed to helping them dream big dreams that will take them far beyond their current zip code. This trip to Washington, D.C. serves as a positive reminder of the limitless possibilities for our students. Many of our students have never flown…. first dream realized; some have never been out of Georgia….. second dream realized and most of them have never had the opportunity to visit the White House and to possibly meet the 1st African- American President…. third dream realized. You can become a valuable DREAM MAKER, by investing in and sponsoring one of our wonderful 42 students on our D.C. trip scheduled for May 4-6, 2016.
The total price for the trip is $330 per child (see attached flyer for more details) any and all donations will be greatly appreciated! Make checks payable to Dunbar Elementary School and write in the memo section End-of-year Field Trip to D.C.
If you are willing to support this effort, please contact our beloved school and simply say, “I want to be a DREAM MAKER and sign me up!”
