As a Christmas gift to my parents, my siblings and I saved up and decided to send our parents home to Colombia for Christmas so they could spend the holidays with family back home. On the morning of January 7th, in Aranzazu Caldas, Colombia, they were in a terrible auto accident, where my mother is in an induced coma. Our father and cousins suffered many injuries and are fortunate to be alive. Our mother is waiting to have surgery and will require 2 to 3 months of recovery time. Our father is in recovery from his injuries in Columbia and is with our mom. He needs to come back to Brandon for work but our mother needs him there by her side as well. There is a lot of uncertainty at this time, and we still need to make the mortgage payments, cover the bills at our family home and if our mom's condition worsens, for all four of us to fly to Colombia to be by her side.
