Mason Family - Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Hi everyone

**Wonderful news! Kidney transplant!**

You may remember the story of a Ballarat family of six whose lives were thrown into chaos in 2016 when their eldest son Lachie was diagnosed with kidney failure. (See story below for where everything started)

Fast forward 18 months and Lachie now 18 years old and the Mason family adapted to nightly dialysis to keep Lachie alive and living as normal life as possible whilst on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. He succesfully completed year 12 in 2017, showing amazing courage, many doctors were surprised that he was still managing to do so much with his time including his year 12 certificate.. We are all so so proud of him.

Now here is the amazing news! On Tuesday the 9th January, 2018, the Mason family received the phone call they had been waiting for. He received the gift of a kidney from an amazing organ donor.

At this stage, the operation has been successful and the medical team are really happy with how much of a match this kidney is for Lachie.

There is still a long long road to recovery and at this time Lachie's health and well being is the family's main focus.

Part of the recovery process means an extended hospital stay in Melbourne, followed by daily trips to Melbourne for tests and scans.

This is a very stressful, emotional and tiring time and a time where the Mason family must focus on and look after each other.

One of the stresses we are trying to assist with is financial. The Mason's are a single income family with four boys inlcuding three primary school aged children.

The current and ongoing hospital trips as well as looking after the younger boys will mean that Adam can not work at this time and with no annual leave, there will not be a much needed income. Any money raised will asssist with medical bills, travel, Melbourne accommodation, house payments and day to day expenses.

We are so excited for them to recover, restore and reclaim their lives, and as they are going to need all the strength they can to get to the best possible health for Lachie, please help us take the focus off their financial burdens and focus on each other.I should add, this family is very humbled and thankful for your thoughts and prayers and any financial help.

Please, if you can, donate or share this post. Any money is a wonderful help to this family.

Thank you, Kylie (Bec's sister)

June, 2016 I am raising money for a local Ballarat family of six! Mum, Dad and four boys! Late last week, my nephew and the Mason family's eldest son - 17 year old Lachie became very ill. With his kidneys failing, Lachie was transported by ambulance to Monash hospital in Melbourne. Every family's nightmare, Lachie has been fighting for his life. His ongoing treatment involves a lot of tests and new plans to try and find a cause. This unfortunately is not going to be an overnight fix and whilst he is in the best hands, it's a long road ahead. And they have been here before, Lachie was a 25 week gestation prem baby and spent a long time touch and go fighting for his life. He has come so far in his 17 years and has so much ahead of him! We just need to get him better. The Mason's are happy and kind and family to them is everything. I am creating this fund to try and take away the day to day stress of house payments, groceries, petrol. Not only are they spending every waking minute supporting their sick son, they are continuing to run a normal household. The three younger brothers attend school and kinder. Unpaid leave has been taken from work but as we all know bills will continue to come. No matter how small, your donation will help! Even if we raise enough just to pay for their groceries for a week, it will help. Any money raised will help this family continue to function and focus on what is important - each other and the health of Lachie. Please help take the financial pressures off and thank you. Information for the record, my name is Kylie Gibson and I am from Ballarat. I am raising money for my family members who are in need, for help with household and medical expenses. Fundsd raised will be withdrawn and deposited to the Mason's.
