David Yasinski is a 5 year old (will be 6 in 5 days) bright, active, fearless and loving boy. David comes from a very humble and loyal family. He is the youngest of three children. His parents, Tom and Irina and sisters, Iana and Larina appreciate all the support they can receive through these tough times.
On January 19th David was feeling sick and complaining of a headache. Around 2:00 am he fell unconscious into his mother’s arms. Paramedics were called and David was transferred to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. Doctors at the emergency room attended to David with care and compassion, examined him thoroughly with extensive bloodwork and CAT scan. David’s parents were waiting by his bedside when doctors broke the bad news that David had a brain tumor.
Doctors at Sr. Joseph prepared David and transferred him to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. A team was waiting at CHLA and admitted David immediately. More testing and evaluations were conducted and David was scheduled for surgery. On January 21st at 12:00 pm David was taken into the OR, after long 6 hours of surgery the tumor from his brain was removed.
David has a long recovery road ahead of him and he will celebrate his 6th Birthday at the hospital. His parents quit their jobs to be by his side. While David’s family has medical insurance that will pay for his surgery and recovery they will need assistance to ease the financial burdens that the family will face in the upcoming months.
